Thank you for
your interest in Washington’s Wildlife Areas:
The
Department of Fish and Wildlife manages over 850,000 acres
of land around the state for fish and wildlife, habitat
conservation and wildlife related recreation. These lands
are divided into wildlife area complexes consisting of 27
different wildlife management areas.
For
the last year and a half we have been preparing draft wildlife
area management plans for each of these areas with the help
of local citizen advisory groups. The plans will form the
basis for all future operations, management decisions, and
budgeting on these lands. Plans will be posted on this website
as they are completed over the next month. We will be updating
the plans annually beginning in 2007 and invite your thoughts
and comments.
The
comment period for draft management plans ended on January
31, 2007. Public input will be incorporated into our first
update of the plans in early 2007. Completed management
plans will be posted at this site as they become finalized.
Thank
you for supporting Washington’s rich wildlife heritage.
Sincerely,
Mark Quinn
Lands Division Manager
