Washington’s
rich wildlife heritage can be enjoyed in many places throughout
the state; but some of the premier wildlife sites are the nearly-900,000
acres of Wildlife Areas owned or managed by the Washington Department
of Fish and Wildlife.
Opportunities
for public recreation on Wildlife Areas are extensive. Beautiful
forests, lakes, estuaries, mountains, prairies, rivers and canyons
await your visit, as do the fish and wildlife species that live
there.
Set aside specifically
to protect critical wildlife habitats, these lands are home to some
of Washington’s most significant and important fish and wildlife.
If you’ve
ever wanted to see a bald eagle or a bighorn ram (or any other species),
but didn’t know where to start, check out one of Washington’s
Wildlife Areas.
This guide provides
general information on what species may be seen on a particular
Wildlife Area, when. Or you can sort the data in a variety of ways
to find just what you are looking for. Plan a trip today to view
wildlife on one of Washington’s incredible Wildlife Areas!
Please help
to protect these lands by following the rules and regulations regarding
public conduct on wildlife areas and access sites that are owned
or controlled by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
(See Vehicle Use Permit requirements for visiting Wildlife Areas.)
