Dangerous Wildlife Incident Reports

SPECIES
Cougar

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
ON 9/24/12 AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 HOURS I SPOKE ON THE PHONE WITH THE RP. THE RP ADVISED THAT A COUGAR HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN HIS NEIGHBORHOOD. THE RP DESCRIBED ONE OF HIS NEIGHBORS OBSERVING THE COUGAR CHASING DOWN A DEER. THE RP ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT HE SHOULD BE WORRIED TO HAVE A COUGAR IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I EXPLAINED THAT HE DOES LIVE IN APPROPRIATE COUGAR HABITAT AND SHOULD EXPECT TO HAVE THEM PRESENT IN THE AREA. I EXPLAINED THEIR HUNTING HABITS AS WELL AS WHAT WE WOULD CONSIDER APPROPRIATE VS. INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR FROM A COUGAR. AT THIS TIME NO INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED TO ME TO INDICATE THIS CAT WAS INAPPROPRIATE. CLOSE AS SIGHTING.
