DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE RP WHO RAISES LIVESTOCK IN RURAL GRANT COUNTY. AT ABOUT 0800 THIS MORNING THE RP OBSERVED A MEDIUM SIZED COUGAR WALKING ALONG HER FENCE LINE CLOSE TO HER HOUSE. THE RP GRABBED A RIFLE AND FIRED SEVERAL SHOTS NEAR THE CAT IN AN EFFORT TO HAZE IT AWAY FROM HER PROPERTY. THE RP STATED SHE HAS GROWN UP IN RURAL AREAS AND KNOWS WHAT I COUGAR LOOKS LIKE. THE RP SAID THAT SHE KNOWS THERE ARE CATS LIVING IN THE AREA, AND SHE ONLY WANTED TO SCARE IT AWAY FROM HER CATTLE AND WHERE HER KIDS PLAY. THE RP CALLED ME BECAUSE SHE JUST WANTED US TO DOCUMENT HER ACTIONS AND THAT THERE IS A CAT IN THE AREA OF HER RANCH.
