DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
RP CALLED TO REPORT THAT TWO OF HER GOATS AND A CHICKEN HAD BEEN KILLED SOMETIME AFTER 0200 THAT MORNING BY WHAT SHE BELIEVED TO BE A COUGAR. SHE ADVISED THERE WERE STILL MANY TRACKS VISIBLE. A FISH AND WILDLIFE OFFICER RESPONDED AND CONFIRMED THE COUGAR KILL OF TWO GOATS AND A CHICKEN. THE COUGAR HAD JUMPED OVER A 6 FOOT ENCLOSURE TO MAKE THE ATTACK. HOUNDS WERE USED TO TRACK THE COUGAR OVER THE STEEP AND RUGGED TERRAIN IN WINDY CONDITIONS AND IT WAS NOT LOCATED THAT DAY. THE NEXT DAY THE HOUNDSMEN AND HOUNDS WERE ABLE TO TREE THE COUGAR AND EUTHANIZE IT. IT WAS A YOUNG ADULT MALE AND HAD SOME A BROKEN BOTH AND SOME DEEP WOUNDS POSSIBLY FROM BEING HIT BY A CAR, JUMPING THE FENCE, OR THE HOUND CHASE. THE PERMIT WAS LEFT OPEN SINCE THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A SECOND COUGAR INVOLVED.
