DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
THE RP CALLED THIS MORNING AND REPORTED THAT TWO MORE PIGS WERE KILLED ON THE PROPERTY. THIS IS THE THIRD REPORTED INCIDENT. THE RP STATED THEY HAD PLACED A CAMERA IN THE LOCATION BUT THAT THE ANIMAL HAD APPROACHED FROM A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. HE SAID THEY GOT A PICTURE OF ITS EARS AND IT APPEARED TO BE CAT'S EARS RATHER THAN DOG EARS. THE PICTURE WAS TAKEN AT 2200 HOURS THE PREVIOUS EVENING. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT A NEIGHBOR HAD INFORMED HIM THAT A COUGAR HAD BEEN SPOTTED TWICE ON THE MORNING OF SATURDAY, 10/29/11. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS SIGHTING IS LEGITIMATE OR NOT. I REITERATED THE INFORMATION THAT I HAD GIVEN HIM PREVIOUSLY THAT THE COUGAR COULD BE SHOT IF IT IS COMING ONTO THE PROPERTY TO DEPREDATE. I ASKED HIM TO CALL WITH ANY NEW INFORMATION. ON 11/02/11 A SERGEANT WENT TO THE LOCATION TO FOLLOW UP. HERE ARE HIS FINDINGS: -SPOKE W/ THE RP - EXAMINED EVIDENCE; TRAILED CAMERA PHOTOS, BITE MARKS ON PIGS, NOT CONSISTENT WITH COUGAR ATTACK. SHOWN DEAD DOG THAT WORKER SHOT TRYING TO GET INTO PIG ENCLOSURE: TOOTH MEASUREMENTS AND BITE MARK MEASUREMENTS MATCHED - DETERMINED A DOG ATTACKED THE PIGS RATHER THAN A COUGAR
