Dangerous Wildlife Incident Reports

SPECIES
Cougar

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
THE RP REPORTED TWO MORE PIGS WERE KILLED SOMETIME MOST LIKELY IN THE EARLY MORNING OF THE 27TH. AFTER OUR DETACHMENT MEETING I RESPONDED TO THE SCENE. I SEARCHED THE AREA FOR TRACKS, FINDING A NUMBER OF THEM, BUT THEY WERE NOT DISTINCT ENOUGH TO IDENTIFY THEM AS COUGAR TRACKS. SCRATCH MARKS ON TWO SURVIVING PIGS SUGGESTED THIS MIGHT BE A COUGAR. I ADVISED THE RP THAT THE ANIMAL CAN BE SHOT IN THE ACT OF DEPREDATING OR THAT HE OR THE OWNER COULD PURCHASE A COUGAR TAG AND SHOOT THE ANIMAL ON SIGHT. I ADVISED HIM TO NOTIFY OUR OFFICE IF A COUGAR IS SIGHTED OR KILLED. I TOOK SEVERAL PICTURES AT THE SCENE.
