Public meetings scheduled on Hood Canal recreational shrimp season
OLYMPIA -- Four public meetings have been set by the Washington Department
of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) to develop options for this year's Hood Canal recreational
shrimp fishery.
The meetings will include presentations on the results of a recent test fishery
and the findings of a questionnaire sent to Hood Canal shrimp fishers earlier this year.
The WDFW and treaty tribes have reached agreement on conservation
principles for the fishery and are drafting a 1998 management plan. The recreational
shrimp fishing regulations will be adopted following the public meetings.
The meetings are scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the following dates and at
these locations:
- April 13, Chimacum High School Auditorium, 91 West Valley Rd.,
Chimacum
- April 14, Shorewood High School Auditorium, 17330 Fremont Ave.
North, Shoreline
- April 15, Shelton High School Auditorium, 3737 N. Shelton Spring
Rd., Shelton
- April 16, Olympic High School Auditorium, 7070 Stampede Blvd.,
Bremerton
