Hunt raffle deadline is Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002

OLYMPIA – Hunters are reminded they have until Sunday (Aug. 4) to purchase raffle tickets for chances to participate in special-permit big game hunts this fall.

Winning tickets will be selected by computer and winners will be notified by August 15. One winner will be chosen for each of the following hunts– any buck deer, eastside bull elk, westside bull elk, moose, ram bighorn sheep, and mountain goat.

The winner of the deer hunt can hunt between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 in any open game management unit, except Private Lands Wildlife Management areas and Game Management units 157, 418, 485 and 522. Winners of the elk hunts can hunt between Sept.1 and Dec. 31 in any open unit, except Private Lands Wildlife Management areas and Game Management units 157, 162, 166, 418, 485 and 522. In addition, deer and elk raffle permit winners may purchase a second tag and can hunt in a general or permit season with appropriate equipment and licenses.

The winner of the moose hunt will be allowed to hunt between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30 in any unit open to moose hunting. The winner of the bighorn sheep hunt will be allowed to hunt between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31 in any open sheep unit. The winner of the mountain goat hunt will be allowed to hunt between Sept. 15 and Oct. 31 in the four goat units open to raffle and auction hunters.

Raffle tickets are $5 each and $10 for sheep, and may be purchased at http://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov on the Internet, toll-free by telephone at 1-866-246-9453 or at license vendors statewide.
