Department seeks sports and commercial fishing advisors

OLYMPIA -- The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking nominations for persons to serve on two fish advisory groups.

They are:

  • The Anadromous and Marine Resources Sport Fishing Advisory Group, which advises the department on cold water sport fisheries and habitat issues for salmon, steelhead, marine fish (such as halibut and rockfish) and shellfish.
  • The Commercial Fishing Advisory Group, which advises the department on commercial issues involving salmon, groundfish (such as whiting), shellfish and fish processing.
Nominees should have experience in fish management issues and the ability to communicate with other fishing interest groups.

Twenty advisors will be selected for each group. The appointments are for one year.

Nomination letters, accompanied by a resume of the nominee, should be sent to: Phil Anderson, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091.
