Public meetings postponed on Colockum elk plan

YAKIMA-Public meetings to review the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's (WDFW) draft plan for management of the Colockum elk herd have been postponed.

The meetings, scheduled this week in Ellensburg and Wenatchee, will be re-scheduled for late January or early February.

WDFW Game Manager Dave Ware explained the meetings were delayed to allow citizens an adequate opportunity to review the draft herd management plan prior to the public meetings.

The draft herd plan is expected to be posted on the Elk Herd Management section of the WDFW website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/wildlife.htm by the end of this month, and new meeting dates will be announced as soon as possible, Ware said.
