Group will review Columbia River
spring chinook harvest, allocation
OLYMPIA - A seven-member citizen working group organized by the Washington and Oregon departments of fish and wildlife will meet to review the spring chinook harvest and allocation at a public meeting in The Dalles, Ore., on Friday, Jan. 3.
The working group is tasked with reviewing how the management guideline for upriver spring chinook is currently shared among recreational fisheries downstream and upstream of Bonneville Dam, including outcomes of recent years' seasons. The workgroup will also discuss management approaches and allocation for the future.
The group is comprised of three representatives from below Bonneville Dam, two from the area between Bonneville Dam to and Washington/Oregon border, and two from the Snake River.
The meeting will start at 10 a.m. at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum, 5000 Discovery Drive, in The Dalles. A public comment period is scheduled at 4 p.m.
