Weekend razor clam dig at Twin Harbors canceled

MONTESANO The recreational razor clam season scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19 and Sunday, Feb. 20 on the Twin Harbors beach (Westport, Grayland and North Cove) has been canceled due to health concerns.

Clams analyzed by the Washington State Department of Health show an increase in the level of domoic acid which required the cancellation. High levels of domoic acid can pose a health risk to humans.

Digging will continue as scheduled Saturday and Sunday on the Long Beach Peninsula where domoic acid levels remain low. Digging is limited to the afternoon and evening hours. Low tide on Saturday, Feb. 19 is 6:27 p.m.; low tide on Sunday, Feb. 20 is 7:10 p.m.

No other beaches will be opened during these dates. Additional digging opportunities are anticipated in April with specific dates announced in the near future.
