Battle Ground lake to feature lots of trout and steelhead for opener
BATTLE GROUND–The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is planting 7,500 half-pound rainbow trout and 100 adult hatchery steelhead for the Wednesday (March 1) reopening of Battle Ground Lake. The Clark County Health Department closed the lake late last summer due to health concerns. The department has given WDFW permission to reopen the lake to fishing on March 1. Health officials have urged anglers to wash their hands after fishing and to cook their fish thoroughly before eating them. WDFW fish scientists say the trout and steelhead are safe for human consumption.
