Lisa Pelly heads Fish and Wildlife Commission

OLYMPIA -- The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission today unanimously elected Commissioner Lisa Pelly chair of the commission, the first woman to serve in that position.

During today's telephone meeting Commissioner Roger Contor was elected vice chair.

Both will serve two-year terms.

Pelly, who has been a commissioner for three years, assumes leadership of the body from Mitch Johnson.

Pelly came to the commission as a noted fly fisher and founder of the Northwest Women Flyfishers. She is a landscape designer who lives in Battle Ground.

Contor was appointed to the commission two years ago after a 34-year career with the National Park Service. His last position was director of parks and natural preserves in Alaska where he managed sport hunting on 20 million acres of preserves. He lives in Ellensburg.
