Commission-tribal workshop to focus on Wild Salmonid Policy
SEATTLE -- The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet with
western Washington treaty tribes in a July 10 workshop to discuss planning for the final
environmental impact statement of the state's Wild Salmonid Policy.
The EIS planning session will begin at 1 p.m. in the Stapleton/O'Hare Room of
the Holiday Inn SeaTac, 17338 International Blvd.
The meeting is open to the public. No public comment will be taken.
The commission is scheduled to pick a final Wild Salmonid Policy alternative at
its July 18-19 workshop at the Labor and Industries Building in Tumwater.
The Department of Fish and Wildlife developed the Wild Salmonid Policy at the
direction of the state Legislature. The draft policy's goal is to provide a road map for
rebuilding wild salmon and steelhead runs in Washington.
The five proposed draft EIS alternatives were presented for comment at a series
of public meetings and hearings held around the state from April 15 through June 21.
