New record set for lake trout
OLYMPIA–A lake trout caught by a Twisp man in Lake Chelan has set a new state record, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced. Phillip Rettstatt caught the 31 pound, 2.75 ounce trout trolling with a Silver Horde plug on May 14. The previous record was a trout weighing 30 pounds, 4 ounces. That fish was caught in Loon Lake in Stevens County in June, 1966. John E. Moore, of Mount Vernon, set a state record with a bridgelip sucker he caught with a worm in Palmer Lake in Okanogan County. The fish weighed 3.06 pounds. The was no previous record for bridgelip suckers.
