Halibut quota reached in Area Two
OLYMPIA -- The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW)
announced today that the recreational halibut fishery will close in Catch Area Two
(Westport) this Friday (July 10) at 12:01 am.
The small halibut quota set aside for this fishery is expected to be reached by
anglers by days end on Thursday. The fishery was set last week and was restricted to
a small inshore area north of Grays Harbor to allow a limited by-catch opportunity in
traditional bottomfish areas.
WDFW fish biologists point out that good bottomfishing opportunities remain
available in the Westport area.
