Public access site on Silver Lake temporarily closed

OLYMPIA A public access site managed by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) on Silver Lake in southwest Spokane County will be closed July 28 through Aug. 22 to ensure public safety during a reconstruction project.

A new concrete boat launch and fishing pier is being constructed at the site and public use cannot be safely accommodated while work is under way, said Brian Trickel, WDFW eastside lands supervisor.

Meanwhile, numerous other lakes remain open to public access in southwest Spokane County, including North Silver, Medical, West Medical, Clear and Fish lakes, Trickel said.

Signs announcing the closure are posted at the site, which is scheduled to reopen Aug. 23.
