Comments sought on EIS for six-year game plan
For more information:
OLYMPIA– The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is accepting public comments for the next 21 days on the environmental impact of the department's proposed six-year game species management plan.
The public is invited to comment on the scope of the environmental-impact statement (EIS) for the comprehensive plan that defines management direction for Washington's game species including deer, elk, migratory and upland birds, cougar, moose, mountain goat, big horn sheep, black bear, rabbits, furbearers and unclassified game animals.
The 2003 to 2008 plan calls for managing game populations for sustained yield and a variety of recreational, educational and aesthetic purposes while ensuring healthy and productive populations.
The completed draft plan and EIS are scheduled to be released in late July. The final plan is scheduled to be presented to the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission for consideration in September.
Comments, which must be postmarked by 5 p.m., June 28, should be submitted to Cynthia Pratt, WDFW Habitat Program, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia WA 98501 or e-mailed to the WDFW Wildlife Program at email@example.com
