Hunters issued raffle reminder
OLYMPIA -- Hunters are reminded that July 24 is the deadline for buying raffle
tickets for 1998 big-game permits sold by the Washington Department of Fish and
Wildlife.
Raffle tickets are on sale at WDFW headquarters in Olympia, at WDFW regional
offices and at some hunting license dealers statewide. Mail-order raffle ticket forms and
vendor lists are printed in the 1998 hunting season pamphlet and also are accessible
on the WDFW website at wdfw.wa.gov. Tickets are $5 each for chances to win a
deer, elk or moose permit and $10 each for a chance on a bighorn sheep permit.
Revenues raised through the raffle are returned to conservation programs for each of
the four species.
"This is an excellent opportunity for a quality deer, elk moose or sheep hunt,"
said Steve Pozzanghera, WDFW carnivore, furbearer and permit species section
manager. "The raffle is a chance for winning hunters to take an additional animal in any
open area of their choice."
The winning tickets will be drawn Aug. 14 at the WDFW Wenatchee District
Office. Tickets holders need not be present at the drawing in order to win. There is no
limit on the number of tickets which may be purchased.
