Learn about salmon recovery
lead entities in March 23 event

OLYMPIA—Citizens will have an opportunity March 23 to learn more about lead entities, the local organizations that develop proposed salmon habitat protection and restoration projects.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Columbia Room of the Legislative Building on the Capitol Campus in Olympia.

Lead entity coordinators and citizen volunteers will be on hand to discuss their work, and presentations are scheduled by the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office, the state Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Representatives and displays from lead entities across the state will be available throughout the day.

Lead entities are watershed-based organizations that solicit, develop, prioritize and submit habitat protection and restoration projects to the Salmon Recovery Funding Board (SRFB) as provided by state law.

Lead entity funding is provided by the state Legislature through the IAC. WDFW implements the lead entity program, under contract with the IAC, and provides funding to support lead entities in making habitat decisions for salmon recovery.
