April brings angling rule changes to southwest Washington rivers
VANCOUVER--April will bring sport fishing regulation changes to several southwest Washington rivers, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced today.
The rule changes affect the following rivers:
- Wind River:
Closes to salmon angling at 12:01 a.m. April 1 through July 31 because there are no harvestable fish
- Little White Salmon River (Drano Lake):
closes to salmon angling at 12:01 a.m. April through July 31 because there are no harvestable fish
- White Salmon River:
Anglers will be limited to one salmon or hatchery steelhead beginning at 12:01 a.m. April 1 through July 31. Fewer than 50 harvestable chinook are expected
- Klickitat River:
Opens at 12:01 a.m. April 3 through May 29 on Wednedays and Saturdays only from the mouth to the Fisher Hill Bridge. There will be a one salmon or hatchery steelhead daily limit and a two-salmon season limit. Anglers are expected to harvest 50 adult chinook. From June 1 through July 31 the following permanent regulations apply: From the mouth to the Fisher Hill Bridge: standard daily limit (six salmon of which two may be adults); From 400 feet upstream from fishway No. 5 to the boundary markers below the Klickitat Salmon Hatchery: six jack daily limit.
Steelhead regulations for the Klickitat will be listed in the 1999-2000 Fishing in Washington regulation pamphlet available on May 1.
