Four public meetings set to discuss Hood canal shrimp and crab fishing

OLYMPIA -- The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has set four public meetings to discuss this year's recreational shrimp and crab fisheries in Hood Canal.

At the meetings, WDFW biologists will present results of a recent shrimp test fishery, review the 1999 fishery and discuss options for the 2000 season.

The meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the following dates and locations.

  • April 10: Chimacum High School Auditorium, 91 West Valley Rd., Chimacum
  • April 11: Shelton Community Center, 525 Cota St., Shelton
  • April 12: Shoreline Community College Canteen, 16101 Greenwood Ave. N, Seattle
  • April 13: Klahowya Secondary School Auditorium, 7607 NW Newberry Rd., Silverdale
In addition to discussing recreational shrimp issues, the biologists will address two Dungeness crab issues: test fishery results for molt timing and the six-inch minimum size limit.
