Public meetings scheduled on Hood Canal recreational shrimp season

Four public meetings have been set by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) to develop the fishing regulations for this year's Hood Canal recreational shrimp fishery.

The meetings will include presentations on the results of a recent test fishery, review of the 1998 season, and proposed fishing seasons for 1999.

The WDFW and treaty tribes have reached agreement on conservation principles for the fishery and are drafting a 1999 management plan. The recreational shrimp fishing regulations will be adopted following the public meetings.

The meetings are scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the following dates and at these locations:

  • April 12 Shelton High School Auditorium, 3737 North SheltonSpring Road, Shelton, WA
  • April 13 Shoreline Community College Canteen, 16101 Greenwood Ave. North, Seattle, WA
  • April 14 Chimacum High School Auditorium, 91 West Valley Rd, Chimacum, WA
  • April 15 Central Kitsap High School Auditorium, 3700 N.W. Anderson Hill Road, Silverdale, WA
