WDFW issues clarifications and corrections
to the 2008-09 Sportfishing Rules pamphlet

OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has issued corrections and clarifications to the recently published 2008-09 Fishing In Washington Sportfishing Rules pamphlet.

The corrections and clarifications are also available on the department’s website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations. WDFW will provide additional updates and corrections as needed.

Anglers are advised to update their copies of the 2008-09 Fishing in Washington Sportfishing Rules pamphlet, which became effective May 1, 2008.

Call the Fish Program Customer Service at (360) 902-2700 for questions regarding these changes.

CORRECTIONS

Page 19 – Grays Harbor Wild Coho Release Requirements
Error: The release requirements listed for Grays Harbor Wild Coho are incorrect.
Correction: The section should read: Anglers are required to release wild COHO in numerous Grays Harbor tributaries.

For further information regarding release requirements of COHO in Marine Area 2.2, see page 108 of the 2008-09 Sportfishing Pamphlet.

Page 44 – Cascade River (Skagit Co.) from mouth to Rockport-Cascade Rd. Bridge
Error: The dates for the ALL SPECIES non-buoyant lure restriction and night closure are incorrect.
Correction: The correct dates should read: ALL SPECIES - June 1-July 15 and Sept. 16-Nov. 30: non-buoyant lure restriction and night closure.

Page 59 – Sauk River (Skagit/Snohomish Co.) from Whitechuck River upstream including NORTH FORK and SOUTH FORK
Error: The description of this section of the river is incorrect.
Correction: The description of this section of river should read: Sauk River (Skagit/Snohomish Co.) from Whitechuck River upstream including NORTH FORK and SOUTH FORK to Elliott Creek.

Page 59 – Sauk River (Skagit/Snohomish Co.) SOUTH FORK above Elliott Creek
Error: This section of the Sauk River was omitted from the pamphlet.
Correction: This section of the Sauk River should read: (Dates) June 1-Aug. 31. (Special Rules) ALL SPECIES selective gear rules. All Game Fish: Catch-and-release except up to 2 hatchery STEELHEAD may be retained.

Page 77 – Boulder Creek (Okanogan Co.) and tributaries
Error: Season dates for the fisheries listed were incorrectly stated as Jan. 1-Oct. 31.
Correction: The season dates for the fisheries listed should read: June 1-Oct. 31.

Page 82 – Columbia River from Wells Dam to Chief Joseph Dam
Error: Language in the July 16-Aug. 31 SALMON fishery’s additional rules section incorrectly stated that fishing is only open from Wells Dam to Hwy. 173 Bridge at Brewster.
Correction: The second sentence of the additional rules for this fishery should read: Open only to fishing from Wells Dam to Hwy. 17 Bridge at Bridgeport.

Page 91 – Big Tiffany Lake (Okanogan Co.)
Error: The additional rules section for All Other TROUT incorrectly states that anglers may not continue to fish for EASTERN BROOK TROUT (EBT) once 5 TROUT other than EBT have been retained.
Correction: The additional rules for All Other TROUT should read: EASTERN BROOK TROUT (EBT) do not count as part of the TROUT daily limit.

Page 99 – Sullivan Lake (Pend Oreille Co.)
Error: The daily limit of 10 listed for TROUT is incorrect.
Correction: The daily limit for TROUT should read: 2.

Page 109 – Marine Area 3
Clarification: The first day that fishing is allowed during the June 1-June 28 SALMON season is June 3 because it is a Tuesday through Saturday ONLY fishery.

Page 110 – Marine Area 4
Clarification: The first day that fishing is allowed during the June 1-June 28 SALMON season is June 3 because it is a Tuesday through Saturday ONLY fishery.
