The Draft Washington State Recovery Plan for the Western Pond Turtle is now available for review. The western pond turtle is a state endangered species. This recovery plan represents several years of work by biologists and managers within and outside the Department. The plan provides the most comprehensive report on this species' status and habits in Washington. The Department will use the plan to guide its recovery and management activities during the next several years.
Copies of the draft plan are available at the Department's regional offices and Olympia headquarters. To request a copy, call or send an e-mail request to the Wildlife Management Program. It is also available on the agency website. Comments on the draft plan are due by July 1, 1999. Please send comments to:
