OLYMPIA – Information on excavation activity was stated incorrectly in the new 2009 “Gold and Fish” pamphlet recently issued by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).

Figures 18 and 19 on p. 15 of the pamphlet have been corrected to show permissible excavation sites for prospectors working in bodies of water. The corrected pamphlet, which serves as a permit for prospectors, is available online at http://wdfw.wa.gov/habitat/goldfish/. New state mineral prospecting rules go into effect April 3.
