OLYMPIA–Recreational clam and oyster harvesting has been extended until further notice at Potlatch State Park on Hood Canal, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced.
The extended season differs from earlier closure announcements and listings that will appear in the WDFW 1999 "Fishing In Washington" regulation pamphlet. A new pamphlet with information on the 1999-2000 sport seasons will be available May 1 at WDFW offices and many license dealers across the state.
Updates to recreational shellfish harvest regulations can be heard on the WDFW shellfish emergency regulation hotline at (360) 796-3215.
Recreational clam and oyster harvesting requires a shellfish/seaweed license. Shellfish harvesters should check the Marine Toxin Hotline at (800) 562-5632 before gathering shellfish.
