Fishing assistance available at WDFW regional offices

OLYMPIA--Anglers looking for hot fishing spots can find a handy guide to lakes in which trout have been planted at Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife regional offices.

The spring 1998 Hatchery Trout Stocking Plan details by county how many trout were planted in each lake managed for the species. The publication should be available before Saturday when the lowland trout fishing season begins.

A second publication, the 1998 "Washington Fishing Guide: Where to catch fish in the Evergreen State," also may be available before Saturday. It is a county-by-county listing of waters and their potential fisheries by species. The guide contains information about fishing spot locations, public and disabled person access and private resorts.

The guide also has information on juvenile-only fishing waters, regulation change highlights and fish species.

WDFW has offices in Mill Creek, Montesano, Olympia, Vancouver, Yakima, Ephrata and Spokane.
