OLYMPIA — The recreational halibut fishery off Ilwaco will reopen Aug. 22 and 23, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) announced today.
The fishery in Marine area 1 (Ilwaco) will be open for halibut fishing from 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22 to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.
Enough quota remains in the fishery to offer anglers two more days of fishing, said Heather Reed, WDFW coastal policy coordinator.
Recreational halibut fishing is closed in all other marine areas. Reed reminded anglers that no other bottom fish may be taken, retained, possessed or landed - except sablefish and Pacific cod - if halibut are onboard the vessel.
More information on fishing regulations is available on WDFW’s website /fishing/regulations.
