Fish and wildlife roundtable is Sept. 9 in Brewster

OLYMPIA — North central Washington residents will have an opportunity to discuss fish and wildlife issues with Phil Anderson, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) interim director and regional staff in a roundtable-style meeting Sept. 9.

The meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Columbia Cove Recreation building located at 508 W. Cliff Ave. in Brewster.

The eighth annual public roundtable will be held in Brewster this year to accommodate increased attendance, said Dennis Beich, WDFW north central regional director. Past meetings had been held in Pateros.

Topics for discussion will include Upper Columbia River salmon and steelhead selective fishing management issues associated with tribal and recreational fisheries. WDFW staff will answer questions and take comments on fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, habitat protection, enforcement and other issues related to fish and wildlife resources.

“I encourage anyone with an interest in our state’s fish and wildlife to take the time to attend this discussion,” said Beich. “This will be an excellent forum to informally discuss issues in depth and become better acquainted with department personnel.”
