WDFW seeks public comments to set fall razor clam season
MONTESANO--The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife wants help from the public in setting upcoming razor clam seasons.
Razor clam fishers and other interested persons can express their views via a survey on the WDFW Website (wdfw.wa.gov/) or at a series of public meetings scheduled during September.
The meetings will address such issues as the size of clam populations, management techniques, tribal co-management and upcoming license changes.
The meetings will begin at 7 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m. at the following locations:
- Long Beach - Sept. 15 at the Super 8 Motel, 500 Ocean Beach Blvd.
- Westport - Sept. 16 at the Ocosta High School Commons, 2580 Montesano St.
- Fife (near Tacoma) - Sept. 17 at the Fife High School cafeteria, 5616 20th St. E. (Take Exit 137 from Interstate 5 to 54th Avenue. Head east, then turn north on 20th Street)
- Ocean Shores - Sept. 21 at the North Beach High School library, 336 State Route 115
Persons who can't attend the meeting may fill out the survey online using the WDFW Website. The survey is available at: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/clamsurv.htm.
WDFW will set the fall razor clam season after reviewing all public comments.
