Elliott Bay re-opens for coho fishing

SEATTLE– Sport coho fishing will resume Friday (September 1) in Elliott Bay, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced.

The fishery will run through September 15, under the same rules governing adjacent Marine Area 10 waters. The daily limit is two coho per day; any chinook caught must be released to the water unharmed. Information on this and other sport seasons and rules is available in the WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet.

Coho fishing in the bay was temporarily closed August 18 to protect returning wild chinook present in the water at that time. Those chinook have now passed through the bay back to their home rivers.

The bay will close to boat fishing September 16. Fishing at Seacrest Pier and Pier 86 will remain open through the end of September, however.
