OLYMPIA - Holiday shoppers with fish and wildlife enthusiasts on their gift lists have lots of options with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) products that have not increased in price in several years.

Fishing and hunting licenses, recreational-site access permits, wildlife license plate backgrounds and other items can be purchased on the Internet, by telephone, or at recreational license vendors across the state.

An annual resident adult freshwater fishing license is $21.90; a saltwater fishing license is $20.26 a shellfish/seaweed license is $10.95; and a combination fishing license is $42.16. Resident hunting licenses vary with package options, ranging from a small-game license at $32.85 to a deer/elk/cougar/bear combination license for $72.27. Transaction and dealer fees will apply.

All fishing and hunting license fees include vehicle use permits for access to nearly a million acres of wildlife lands in 32 wildlife areas and more than 150 water- access sites throughout Washington.

Vehicle use permits for access to these areas can be purchased separately for $10.95 including transaction fees, for wildlife viewers, hikers, boaters and other non-fishing/hunting recreation enthusiasts.

All annual licenses and permits are valid from April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010.

Gift purchases can be made on a secure Internet site at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/ , or by calling (360) 902-2464. Shoppers heading for sporting goods and other retail stores for other items can purchase licenses from those who are vendors; find hundreds of WDFW license vendors in all Washington counties at http://wdfw.wa.gov/licensing/vendors/vendors.

Wildlife-related license plate backgrounds for motor vehicles also can be purchased on-line at http://wdfw.wa.gov/license_plates/.
