OLYMPIA--Anglers may keep wild steelhead caught in the Upper Quinault River through March 31.
The current Fishing in Washington regulation pamphlet inadvertently omits the special rule allowing wild steelhead retention.
The correct regulation for the Upper Quinault River (from the mouth at the upper end of Quinault Lake upstream to the Olympic National Park boundary) is: Open for trout and other game fish (including steelhead) from June 1 through March 31. The minimize size is 14 inches with a daily bag limit of two fish.
Wild steelhead have an adipose fin located on the back just forward of the tail. Adipose fins have been clipped from hatchery steelhead.
