Steelhead fishing resumes on the Bogachiel River
OLYMPIA -- The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) today
reopened a section of the Bogachiel River to hatchery steelhead fishing.
Agency biologists say the Bogachiel Hatchery has now obtained a sufficient
number of eggs from returning steelhead to ensure continued production.
The section of the river, from the mouth of Calawah River to the hatchery, was
closed two weeks ago to protect returning hatchery steelhead.
Fishing for hatchery steelhead may resume on that section of the river at 12:01
a.m. tomorrow morning (Jan. 17). Wild steelhead still must be released.
