VANCOUVER - Recreational and commercial fishing representatives are invited to attend a meeting Aug. 19 to offer their views as work begins on a two-year policy for Columbia River spring chinook management.

Washington and Oregon fishery managers are hosting the meeting, which is scheduled to run from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way in Vancouver.

When final and adopted by the fish and wildlife commissions for Washington and Oregon, the policy will guide management of Columbia River spring chinook fisheries in 2004 and 2005.

A similar policy for 2002 and 2003 has expired.
