PORT TOWNSEND --The recreational crab pot season in the Port Townsend Bay and Killisut Harbor portions of Marine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet) opens tomorrow (June 6).

The open area includes the waters of Port Townsend Bay and Killisut Harbor south of a line running from Point Wilson to Marrowstone Point.

Sampling indicates that crabs are in good enough condition to warrant an early opening of the pot fishery.

The daily limit is six male Dungeness and six red rock crabs of either sex. Minimum size is 6 1/4 inches for Dungeness crab and 5 inches for red rock crab.

In other shellfish developments, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has closed the 1998 Hood Canal recreational shrimp season for the year. There aren't enough shrimp in the non-Indian share for another harvest day.
