OLYMPIA– Hunters seeking permits to take part in special seasons, such as the upcoming spring Blue Mountains bear hunt, are reminded that new application procedures are in place as part of the state's recently implemented computerized recreational licensing system.
The Washington Interactive Licensing Database (WILD) system, which went into operation March 1 at Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) offices and retail license vendors, is used to handle all recreational licensing including permit applications for special hunting seasons and purchasing hunt raffle tickets.
Sunday (March 18) is the deadline for applying for Blue Mountains spring black bear hunting permits and is also the last day to buy raffle tickets for spring turkey hunting.
Spring bear hunt applicants must have a valid Washington big-game license that includes black bear, a black bear transport tag, and must purchase an electronic permit application ($5 for state residents; $3 for youth hunters under 16, and $50 for non-residents). Hunters can purchase applications in person or by calling the licensing system's telephone line at 1-866-246-9453. The completed application information must be submitted by telephone using the number 1-877-945-3492.
Permits will be drawn and permitees notified by March 31.
Spring turkey hunt raffle tickets can be purchased in person at license dealers or by calling 1-866-246-9453. The turkey hunt raffle drawing will take place March 19. Winners will be notified by telephone (if they provide phone numbers) or by mail.
