Shellfish rules change at 3 Puget Sound beaches
OLYMPIA Recreational clam and oyster seasons are changing for three Puget
Sound beaches, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced today.
The beaches are:
- Dosewallips State Park open to clam harvest until further notice because
harvest efforts to date have been less than expected. Oyster harvest also
remains open
- Potlatch (Department of Natural Resources): closes to clam harvest on May
31, because the non-Indian share of the shellfish will be taken
- Potlatch State Park: closes to clam harvest on May 31 because the non-
Indian share will be taken. Oyster harvest will remain open
Shellfish fishers should check the 1999-2000 Fishing in Washington regulation
pamphlet for additional rules. Recreational clam and oyster harvesting requires a
shellfish/seaweed license. Harvesters also should check the Marine Toxin Hotline (1-
800-562-5632) before taking shellfish.
