Sturgeon Festival features family fun, learning

VANCOUVER– A celebration of Columbia River ecosystems featuring games, wildlife displays and entertainment awaits families during the fourth annual Sturgeon Festival Saturday (May 20).

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the City of Vancouver are teaming up to host the free event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 SE Columbia Way, Vancouver.

During this year's festival, children have an opportunity to win prizes if they can "Stump the Scientist," by posing questions to a panel of regional scientists. A Salmon Miniature Golf game, a puppet show and an appearance by Eartha the Clown also will feature earth-friendly entertainment.

In addition, live raptors will be displayed in a "Birds of Prey" exhibit and a "Creature Features" demonstration will show off exotic reptiles. Live music, interactive displays and food and beverage booths round out the celebration.
