Cline Spit and Frye Cove beaches to close to clam and mussel harvest
OLYMPIA -- Beaches at Cline Spit in Dungeness Bay and Frye Cove in Eld Inlet
will close to clam, cockle and mussel harvesting at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, the
Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced.
The beaches are being closed because the allowable non-Indian shellfish
harvest has been taken. The remaining harvestable shellfish are being reserved for
Indian fishers, under the terms of a federal court ruling.
Cline Spit is in Dungeness Bay east of the base of Dungeness Spit. Frye Cove is
north of Flapjack Point.
