State, tribal commissioners to meet Nov. 16

OLYMPIA – The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet with representatives of treaty tribes in western Washington to discuss natural resource co-management issues Nov. 16 in Shelton.

The state commissioners, who set policy for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), are scheduled to meet with their tribal counterparts from the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission (NWIFC) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Little Creek Casino and Resort, 91 West State Route 108, in Shelton.

During the joint meeting, the two commissions are expected to discuss their co-management responsibilities and the annual season-setting process for salmon fisheries. The meeting is open to the public, but no comments will be taken.
