WDFW seeks public input on developing hunting seasons

OLYMPIA Citizens have a chance to express their views on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlifes (WDFW) upcoming hunting seasons through a new online survey.

The 2006-2008 hunting season opinion survey will help WDFW develop alternatives that will be presented during upcoming public meetings and considered at the Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting in April, when hunting regulations will be adopted.

The survey, which ends Nov. 28, addresses a wide-range of hunting season issues, including:

  • Drawings for goat, sheep and moose;
  • Black bear seasons;
  • Electronic calls and decoys;
  • Pheasants and turkey seasons;
  • Muzzleloader and archery regulations;
  • Mule deer and white-tailed deer seasons; and
  • Elk hunting opportunities.

The public opinion survey is available on WDFWs Web site at wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/game/scoping.htm

Those who do not have Internet access and would like to participate in the survey can contact WDFWs Wildlife Program at (360) 902-2515 or 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA, 98501.
