VANCOUVER--Portions of the Washougal River open to sport fishing for hatchery coho salmon at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow (Nov. 13), the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced.

Hatchery coho have no adipose fins (located on the back just forward of the tail).

The Washougal is opening from the mouth upstream to the Salmon Falls Bridge until further notice. The daily limit is six coho, of which two may be adults. Adult coho are 20 inches or longer. The minimum size is 12 inches.

Wild coho, which have adipose fins, as well as chinook and chum, must be released.

In other news, Lester Dorris, Jr., of Shoreline, established a state spearfishing record for vermillion rockfish.

Dorris speared a 13.5-pound fish on Aug. 22 in Neah Bay.
