OLYMPIA–The opportunity for public comment on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's plan to make its program for reviewing and approving projects in and near state waters comply with the federal Endangered Species Act has been extended to Dec. 6.

The extension is due to public requests for more time to review the proposal and make meaningful suggestions.

WDFW protects fish and wildlife by reviewing projects that will be in or affects state waters through its Hydraulic Project Approval Program. To comply with the federal Endangered Species Act, WDFW has proposed plans that will guide future project reviews through its Hydraulic Project Approval Program.
