Meeting scheduled Oct. 8 in Pateros
to discuss fish, wildlife issues

OLYMPIA – Pateros residents will have an opportunity to discuss fish and wildlife issues with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Director Jeff Koenings and regional staff during a public meeting Oct. 8.

The meeting is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. at the Pateros School Library, 344 W. Beach St.

Topics will include a potential upper Columbia River steelhead fishing season and a proposed deer hunt to address the loss of mule deer winter habitat associated with the Easy Street wildfire. WDFW staff also will answer questions and take comments about fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, habitat protection, enforcement and other fish and wildlife related issues.

“I encourage anyone with an interest in our state’s fish and wildlife resources to take the time to attend this roundtable discussion,” said Dennis Beich, WDFW north central regional director. “This will be an excellent forum to informally discuss issues in depth and to become better acquainted with department personnel.”

Beich said the upcoming session is the sixth annual public roundtable that Koenings and WDFW staff have held in Pateros.
