YAKIMA -- Trout anglers will be able to fish this fall for rainbow and brown trout
in various lakes and ponds throughout Yakima and Kittitas counties, the Washington
Department of Fish and Wildlife reported today.
Personnel from WDFW's Naches Hatchery will stock 20,000 rainbow and 12,000
brown trout in various waterways from mid- to late October, according to fisheries
manager Keith Wolf.
Although the fish will be smaller than the trout stocked last spring, they should
provide good fishing opportunities during the fall and early winter. And some of the fish
will remain to provide a jump start for next spring's trout fishery.
"Most of these fish will be in the seven- to eight-inch range," Wolf said. "So this
is a real good opportunity to take a youngster fishing during a sunny weekend this fall."
The Yakima County ponds and lakes to be stocked include: North Elton Pond;
Clear Lake; I-82 Ponds Nos. 3, 4 and 6; Myron Lake; Mud Lake; Rotary Lake; Tims
Pond; Wenas Lake; and Wide Hollow Creek.
Kittitas County lakes and ponds include Fio Rito Lake, North; Fio Rito Lake,
South; Gladmar Pond; Lower Hanson Pond; Upper Hanson Pond-Upper; Mattoon Lake;
and McCabe Pond.
