Citizen review of WDFW outreach continues through Nov. 30, 2001

OLYMPIA The citizen review of Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) public outreach activities continues with "Director's Roundtable" meetings through Nov. 15 and Internet website surveys through Nov. 30.

The series of seven "Director's Roundtable: Connecting With Citizens" meetings began Oct. 22 in Ephrata, Oct. 26 in Olympia, and continues for the next three weeks. The Roundtable discussions with WDFW Director Jeff Koenings focus on invited panels of citizens representing a wide array of fish and wildlife interests, but they are also open to the public.

Interested persons can also participate in the review through the agency's "Director's Roundtable" website. The special web page provides information on WDFW's present outreach efforts and includes an interactive survey that can be completed and submitted on-line through Nov. 30. A list of Roundtable participants, meeting schedule, and post-meeting notes are also on the web page.

"This is an unprecedented effort by the Department to improve the way we do business with the people we serve every day and the way we connect with citizens, " Koenings said. "It's important that we step back and listen to what people think about how we can become more efficient in serving their needs."

Koenings is also meeting with regional WDFW employees during his statewide Roundtable tour to solicit their input on public outreach.

"We will use citizen and employee input received both at meetings and through the Internet to identify improvements and determine an action plan," Koenings said.
